Cadillac & Chair
Targeted strengthening and rehab through varied springs and levers.
The Cadillac (trapeze table) is a large frame with springs, straps, a push-through bar and hanging loops. The Chair is a compact piece worked with a pedal system, far more demanding than it looks.
What these two share is that they’re targeted: where the reformer works the whole body in a flow, the Cadillac and Chair make it easy to focus on a specific area. That’s why they’re used both in rehab and in advanced work.
Who it’s for
- People who notice weakness or restriction in a specific area
- Those who’ve reached a level on the reformer and want variety
- People in a gradual strengthening phase after physiotherapy (with clearance)
- Those wanting to focus on shoulders and upper back
How a class goes
Not a fixed template, it changes with your level and how you feel that day. The general flow:
- 01
Setting the target
Which area to focus on is decided at the start of the session.
- 02
Cadillac series
Spinal mobility with the push-through bar and springs, arm and leg work, and hanging work.
- 03
Chair series
Leg, hip and core work against the pedal resistance, standing, seated or side-lying.
- 04
Integration
Carrying the learned movement pattern into standing and everyday motion.
What it builds
- Targeted, local strengthening
- Shoulder girdle and upper-back stability
- Gradual opening in restricted movement
- Preparation for advanced work
Frequently asked
- The Cadillac looks intimidating, is it hard?
- Looks are deceiving. Because the spring resistance is adjustable, even the simplest movements can be done on it. It’s actually one of the most-used pieces in rehab.
- Do we work the Chair on its own?
- Usually not. Within a session it’s used alongside the reformer or mat, toward a specific goal.
What else is there?
One class is enough, the body tells the rest.
We assess in the first session and build the programme together. So you can see the studio and meet your instructor before joining.
