Ladder Barrel

Spine mobility, side-body opening and deep stretching.

The Ladder Barrel is a ladder and a curved barrel. The curve supports the spine’s natural arch, making it safe to open backward and to the sides.

What a body that spends the day hunched forward loses most is extension, opening backward. The barrel exists precisely to bring that back. It’s also one of the most effective pieces for the side body (the lateral line).

Who it’s for

  • Desk workers who feel their chest and front-shoulder muscles shortening
  • People who want more spinal mobility
  • Those who want to stretch safely with support
  • Athletes with side-body weakness
A session

How a class goes

Not a fixed template, it changes with your level and how you feel that day. The general flow:

  1. 01

    Opening over the curve

The barrel’s curve supports the back while the chest and front shoulder open gradually.

  2. 02

    Side-lying series

Work that lengthens and strengthens the lateral line of the body.

  3. 03

    Ladder work

Hamstring stretching and hip work; the ladder rungs adjust to your level.

  4. 04

    Controlled close

Stabilising the areas you’ve opened, flexibility alone isn’t enough.

What it builds

  • Opening in the chest and front shoulder
  • More spinal extension and rotation capacity
  • Side-body strength
  • Hamstring and hip flexibility

Frequently asked

I’m not flexible, is the barrel for me?
Especially so. Because the barrel’s curve provides support, even a non-flexible person can work safely. The whole point is to build flexibility.
Is the barrel a class on its own?
Usually it’s part of a session. It takes a bigger role in programmes focused on spinal mobility.
First step

One class is enough, the body tells the rest.

We assess in the first session and build the programme together. So you can see the studio and meet your instructor before joining.
